About Jennifer
I am a Special educator with degrees and certifications in special education covering mild/moderate to moderate/severe, autism, cognitively-impaired, emotionally-impaired, traumatic brain injury, learning disabled, gifted students, and English language learners. I received all of these from the University of Michigan, Point Loma Nazarene University, and San Diego State University. I have over 25 years working with children. One of my tenets of my philosophy is joyful learning. I also firmly believe in being professional with students and their families and my coworkers. This past year, I was fortunate enough to be honored with the award for special education teacher of the year for our entire district. I have vast experience working and completing IEPs, from the teacher side and also with advocating for parents. And I have certifications specifically in writing IEPs. I would welcome an opportunity to work 1:1 or 1:3 with your children on behaviors or on any subject that they are struggling with or that they need supplemental instruction over the summer. I have had great success tutoring students in the past.

I create lessons for my students that are engaging both multidisciplinary and multi-topic. I always address the student sensory needs prior to beginning any lessons and allow them to access sensory items during the lessons, if necessary. I also believe that immediate feedback and praise is invaluable for my students.
