About Barbie
I have over two years of experience tutoring students ages 5–17 in art media, including illustration, painting, and have experience in many different mediums. I’m a college senior specializing in Illustration with a successful path in book illustration. I recently published a coloring book for LAUSD health programs, and I have another one in the works. Though I have less than a year before I graduate, I excel in my college classes with a GPA above 3.5 and over $20,000 in scholarships. If you choose to work with me, you won’t just learn the skills to achieve your artistic goals, but you’ll have fun along the way! I’m excited to explore new techniques and ideas with students because, as artists, we are always growing and learning together.

My teaching approach begins by discussing each student’s artistic goals and creating a supportive environment focused on encouragement rather than immediate results. I believe that developing strong drawing skills takes time, and that the most important thing is the student’s own drive to improve; everything else follows naturally. I have experience teaching the fundamentals of art while designing personalized lesson plans tailored to each student’s skill set and timeline for growth. I respect and celebrate all styles and media, understanding that not every student wants to draw realism, but I emphasize that mastering fundamentals is essential for any artistic path. Beyond technical skills, I also have experience growing social media presence and professional connections, supporting both creative growth and broader art careers (if that interests you). My goal is to help students achieve their dreams in art and perhaps go beyond just skill, but as a career path. I prioritize fostering confidence, creativity, and a love of learning art along the way.
