About John

As a professional, I am results oriented. With one of my degrees in mathematics, I have a strong knowledge base. I also have years of experience with teaching in the classroom and, separately, years of experience tutoring one-on-one. When we work on problems together, I will leave you with notes detailing the steps used to derive the solution. These will have as much detail as the student requires.

About the lesson

I have degrees in Math, Physics, and Geology, with advanced degrees in Geophysics. My last five years of grad school were focused mainly on partial differential equations, but all math topics were needed to solve the problems I studied. I used math as a part of my job for over 17 years and was often called on to teach new techniques to others. Since then, I have gotten certified in high school math and physics, taught at high school for two years, and have been employed professionally as a tutor for two years. I work with each student to determine the best way to approach the subject and look for where your difficulties arise. I look for real world examples to add relevance to your subject. We can take a problem step by step to get it done, or delve into theory to discern why a particular method is used and how it works.
