About Emilia
I am a graduate from the Centre for Deaf Studies and I specialized in teaching as I am very passionate about sign lingustics and just the beautiful nature of Irish Sign Language. I love teaching, seeing people aquire the language at their own pace and produce it themselves.

Irish Sign Language is a beautiful visual language unlike spoken languages. It does not have anything in common with English or Irish. Irish sign langauge is the indigenous language of the Irish Deaf community. We have seen it more and more due to the government passing the ISL act providing interpreters on tv for live conferences and the late late toy show!
For me it is important first and foremost to understand Deaf culture and be Deaf aware as it it the first language of a linguistically marginalized community which we should be respectful of if we are to learn ISL. Whilst vocab is important I also place attention to structure and grammar to get you producing signs as soon as possible and avoid signed English.
