About Julia
About me:
I am a qualified English as a Foreign Language Teacher and Primary School Teacher with QTS in the UK. I am originally from Hungary (can also help with Hungarian, if required), but have been living in the South-East of England for over 25 years.
I have a Cambridge Proficiency (C2) Certificate and also hold various qualifications in Literacy Teaching, ESOL and an MA in Applied Linguistics.
I am a long-term home-educating parent, and have tutored up to GCSE level with excellent results.
Over the years, I have taught children and adults individually as well as in groups in various settings.
I have run an English Language book-club for home-educated teens and tweens, and have taught Hungarian language and culture to young children in a weekend community school for over 6 years.
I believe, that the single most important factor in learning is motivation. Because of this, I see myself as a facilitator on your learning journey, helping you achieve your goals. Hi and welcome to my page!
Have you been learning English for a while but feel stuck or lost? Not sure where to start? Would you like some feedback and guidance on how to move forward? Maybe, you need help staying motivated?
Does your child need a bit of help and encouragement or would you like to give your child 'a little extra', that is just right for them, to keep up their enthusiasm?
I can help you:

The type of classes I offer:
ESOL, and English as a Foreign Language
- General English
We cover all areas you would like to improve. Also suitable for complete beginners. The style of sessions is adapted to the age of the child/learner.
- Informal Conversation Practice
These classes are for independent learners who would like to concentrate on improving their fluency. Casual conversation on a range of topics with detailed feedback, support and guidance.
The following classes are suitable for both native and non-native speakers of English:
Reading and Reading Comprehension Booster
- We read a variety of texts (depending on your interest, level and goals) and build on these to improve vocabulary, reading comprehension, reasoning, verbal and written expression, fluency, analytical and communication skills.
Task/Project Based Language Improver
- Is your child crazy about dinosaurs, cycling or drawing ballerinas? Would you like your child to be able to express him/herself better on a particular subject?
I’ll work on a specific topic/ project with you. This could be based on an interest or a specific goal you are working towards. We improve targeted areas to boost motivation and general language skills.
All of the above classes are adapted according to your personal needs and goals. They can take the form of a one-off session , a block of sessions, or long term, regular support.
