About Roksolana

I have experiences in German & English translation for about 10 years and I have been working as an English/German teacher in an academy of languages in Málaga for 8 months teaching kids from 5 years as well as adults. I have lots of fun in teaching and enjoy to see the results besides helping with homework questions as well as preparing for exams (Level A1,A2, B1, B2, C1, C2).

About the lesson

I am a German and English translator and I also completed the 120h TEFL course as an English teacher at Oxbridge in March 2018.
I believe that what exactly a student learns depends strongly on his previous knowledge and the concrete learning situation. It means that knowledge cannot be transferred from one person to another but is re-constructed by each person. In this case constructivism uses interactive teaching strategies to create meaningful context that help students to construct knowledge based on their own experiences.
I think it is also important to create a comfortable and relaxing environment and a relationship between the student and the teacher to provide positive suggestion. In order to create this relaxed state I would use exercises like listen to music, playing games and create a pleasant atmosphere in the classroom. For my teaching approach in the elementary school with kids from around six years up to 13 years old, I would do different games and role playing. For example start with some vocabulary and the kids need to listen to audios. This is a good way to learn new vocabulary and also to remember subconciously how to pronounce it in the right way. Then I would let them listen to a song (any happy song would be fine here) and also animate them to sing with me together. I think this will create a joyable atmosphere in the classroom and positively affect the understanding and learning process of the students. After that I would ask the kids to work together in a group and let them choose any words they might remember from the song and ask them to explain me the meaning of it. At the end of the class I would let them do for example a pantomime game, where one child is acting and the others have to guess what person or animal he or she is imitating, in the background I would play some music so that it will be more fun for the kids to do the game. Communicative approach is one of the most popular methods used by second language teachers nowadays.
Listening, speaking, reading and writing are integrated for communicative competence. The teacher has to be flexible and creative to change techniques when needed and produce effective techniques for the learner. It is also helpful for students when working in groups and give them an information that the other group does not know. The groups can ask each others questions and so they can learn the language while using it.
