About Simon
I started my personal musical journey at the age of 6. Picking up the guest and other instruments along the way. Progressed my way through the grades by 16 becoming runner up to the Hertfordshire young musician of the year award. Graduated from the Guitar Institute in London with a B.Mus degree in popular music performance all the while touring over the UK and Europe performing to many people in many cities. Have been teaching for the Hertfordshire Music Service for 12 years and have a roster of over 60 students within schools. Teaching privately for 16 years. Hoping to share my knowledge with a range of new students.

The word teaching to me seems to be something of a false word within the context of learning. Mentoring or coaching seems to cover the bases much more broadly. Individually is what makes us great, no lesson should be tailored to a group but the needs and the desires of the individual. Every individual learns at a different rate, everyone has a different thought process. So I believe that working to the needs of the individual will have a much more positive impact on the results of the student. With many self written lessons and musical ideas, being flexible to the needs of the student is of the upmost importance. Thus helping the student to engage and achieve their fullest potential. As they say, if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree it will forever think itself as being a failure.

I met Simon a few years ago back when I was in school and having guitar lessons, after just a couple of months of lessons my playing improved massively and Si brought my attention to details I'd never considered before. I always left lessons feeling super inspired and more confident in my playing. Not only is Si one of the best music teachers I've ever had (and I've had a lot after about 6 years of formal music education), he's also an amazing guitarist and just a genuinely nice bloke to hang out with for an hour
Simon is the best guitarist I have ever come across. Such a natural talent, any student would be blessed to have him as a tutor
