About Szymon

I am this year's high school graduate of the International Baccalaureate course.

I am still waiting for the results, but my predicted grades earned me offers from top universities in the UK (University College London, King's College London, University of St. Andrews) in neuroscience.

During the IB program, I prepared six scientific papers, entirely in English (so-called IA, EE, TOK essay), 1,500 to 6,000 words long:

- Mathematics: The use of Bayes' theorem in diagnostic tests.
- Biology: Study of the effect of the wavelength of light on plant growth.
- Chemistry: Study of the relationship between the bond length and bond enthalpy of p-block elements.
- Psychology: Replication of the experiment on a cognitive bias (the so-called Framing Effect) by researchers Amos Tversky and Daniel Kahneman.
- TOK essay: Assessment of the value of scientific knowledge in relation to the arts.
- Extended Essay: Study of the Effect of pH on the Growth of Microchloropsis salina unicellular algae.

Thanks to these experiences, and learning these subjects in English, I am sure that I can share useful knowledge with the student.

About the lesson

- I direct my classes to all intermediate students: who understand English but do not have complete control over its use (B1 / B2 / early C1).

- I put the student's independence in learning the language first: movies, websites, books and lectures are one of the best ways to learn. I want the effects of our work to last long after the meetings are over.

- I am particularly adept at creating scientific and formal writings. I am happy to teach high-school-level vocabulary from biology and chemistry, which may be especially useful for people dreaming of studying abroad.

- We can also chat, and increase your language confidence this way. I am happy to adapt my classes to individual needs.

-We may talk about the IB high school diploma and writing EE and IA papers in biology, chemistry and psychology. I will be happy to aid your learning process and guide you to complete these course elements with the highest marks.

The length of the lesson is to be agreed upon. Personally, I recommend a time longer than 60 minutes.

I only require engagement and conscientiousness, without which it's hardly possible to move forward in learning :).
