About Alexis
I have taught a freshmen level chemistry class to over twenty college students. I have been tutoring in various departments at USM, including chemistry, biology, and math, for over three years. I have helped students who were failing math classes achieve satisfactory grades. I have been a learning assistant, teaching assistant, peer assisted learning worker, and tutor at USM, and tutored in high school before college as well.

I tutor by trying to understand what students think about a certain academic topic and using that information to figure out where they may have a misunderstanding or how I can help them better understand the material. I base each lesson on where the student stands with each topic. If the student has a thorough understanding of one subject, we can simply review or do problems instead of delving deeper into explaining the topic. On the other hand, if the student does not understand the bare principles, I will explain those first before trying to practice.
