About Julie
I currently tutor students in high school English and admissions essay writing. Hello! I work in Denver as a public defender representing indigent individuals charged with crimes in Colorado. I graduated from Yale Law School in 2018 with my JD and worked for two federal judges: one on The United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit one on The United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. In both positions I reviewed parties' briefings and advised on case rulings. I also drafted over a dozen legal opinions. After two years of clerking, I moved to Colorado to become a public defender. I read and write constantly in my job and am read extensively in Classical Literature, Modern Fiction, and Op/Eds.

If you or your child seeks English language (reading, writing, speaking) help, I use various lesson plans and curricula as guides to tailor sessions to the student’s particular needs.
If you or child seeks academic English help, I will follow the curriculum for the respective class. For reading assignments I will generate my own guide of critical questions, themes/motifs, and symbols . For writing assignments, I will help with idea generation and planning as well as general technique for effective analysis, persuasion, and/or storytelling.
For admission essay planning I follow a different model—I break down the formula of what I consider an effective essay, generate ideas with applicant, reshape or expand upon strong ideas, help structure essay, discuss general best practices and writing techniques, edit and rework drafts.

I am a single father of 2. Obviously I have my hands FULL! I would love to take time and help my two sons write their college essays but it’s hard enough working two jobs and being a personal cab driver for 2! Luckily, I found Julie and she really understood how to sit my two sons down and teach them to express themselves on a level that would interest a university. A true achievement indeed!
