About Greg

DR. GREG FOSTER BA, MA, Ph.D. Greg is originally from the Manchester region of the UK and has lived in Matera since 2015. In 2004 he earned a BA in English Literature and Drama from Queen Mary, University of London. She completed a Masters in Contemporary Arts from Leeds Metropolitan University. Finally, in 2017, Greg earned a PhD from the School of Arts and Media at the University of Salford, Manchester. Greg has over fifteen years of education experience. He specialized using a method that combines creativity and technology to teach almost all school subjects but also to train new teachers. He worked in primary, secondary, private schools and also in universities. During his stay in Matera he worked alongside various professionals in the linguistic field and various companies. He has always used his teaching and creativity skills to be able to give an important boost to the English language for the inhabitants of Basilicata. With his unique and effective teaching method, Greg has helped children, teens, adults and companies to grow, develop and realize their dreams. He is passionate about Southern Italy and the people who live there and can't wait to meet you to start or continue your journey into the interesting and useful world of the English language.

About the lesson

Adults: As we all know, the English language is becoming more and more useful here in Italy. From tourism in general to various companies and hotels, more and more people understand that they need English to communicate and be efficient in the workplace. The approach to these weekly courses for adults will focus on the practical use of the English language. Based on students' needs and goals at the start of their English Doc journey, they will be grouped accordingly. These adult courses use English as a practical tool and not as a theoretical school subject. The lessons will focus on practical skills such as speaking, listening, reading and writing, while strengthening the knowledge of English grammar to give students the right command of the language. These courses will not only be about tests and exercises, but will mainly focus on the methods and techniques that allow students to become much more confident in using English. Teens: From the professional opportunities offered by a good knowledge of the English language to the personal freedom and independence of being able to travel freely around the world, English has become a fundamental element for the success of future generations. Unfortunately, the style and approach to teaching English in state schools rarely meets the challenges of today's young people. For example, English is often taught through the Italian language aiming with an unhealthy obsession to take only tests and certificates, while the fundamental aspects for learning English are completely ignored. This is evident from the fact that the English language is little known by young people, considered only as a school subject and not as a useful tool capable of guaranteeing a better future. English Doc. Offers a new approach to teaching English that focuses on use applicable to everyday life. Using literature, modern technology and the Internet, English Doc.'s young people can learn English through fun and interactive projects that blend theory and practice together in an accessible way, allowing our kids to introduce the English language into their everyday world without limit yourself only to the grade obtained at school.
