About Izzy
I have taught and tutored German for more than five years to students of all different ages. My knowledge of German – grammar, vocabulary, speaking fluency, reading and writing – is extremely broad. I have a huge amount of fun teaching, and I share this with my students! Through patience, attentiveness and good humor, I encourage my students to be brave and creative in their language work.

I want my students to feel empowered to use language in multiple formats, and in ways that are not just comfortable to them, but which require them to be brave. I strive to cultivate a teaching space where engagement and enthusiasm are valued more highly than the fear of making mistakes. My lessons are well-planned and varied. I carefully scaffold all exercises, giving attention to speaking, listening, reading and writing as needed. I put my students first, and pay careful attention to the kinds of activities to which they respond well (what makes them laugh, what makes things ‘click’). I emphasize attention to detail and teach grammar in an applied way that considers the language as part of its culture. Above all, I want my lessons to be fun. I like doing the unexpected, making my students think rather than just reproducing what they have read or heard. Language learning should be empowering: I show my students that careful work on grammar, vocabulary, culture and communication can be transformed into something tangible.
