About Leslie
I am a PhD candidate in Education and Social Justice at Bellarmine. My path to this program started in 2002 when I first travelled to Indonesia to teach ESL. That first experience led me to a teacher training program in New Orleans and five years in charter schools in New Orleans where I supported high school students in English, History, Algebra I and Algebra II.

I tailor my lessons to the students' needs and wants. I like to teach using real life contexts so for example if a student needs to give a presentation for school or work then we practice presentation language and if the student wishes, we practice the presentation. During my tenure as an ESL teacher and as a Student Support teacher, I've learned two key things that transform learning into an experience: laughter, and relationships. I strive to develop relationships and infuse my lessons with joy.
