About Yan
I am a dietitian with a degree in Nutrition & Dietetics. I have always had a passion for the English language, along with English literature, and I read voraciously. I will be happy to help students picking up English as a second language, with a focus on the right choice of words, sentence structure, and pronunciation, so they may deliver their messages more effectively. I believe that the most effective teaching is achieved by eliciting understanding.

My teaching method is very student-oriented. I first like to hear about the strengths and weaknesses that a student has. We would work on the fundamentals of their weaknesses first, build up a strong base, and subsequently develop their knowledge and skills learnt such that it is applicable to the real world. Feasible goals and timelines will be set with the student that are regularly checked back on to ensure progression. If more than one topic is to be covered, there would be frequent revision of topics previously taught to ensure consistency in knowledge over time.
