About Yazsin

Hello! My name is Yazsin, and I am a passionate high school student with a strong academic background in mathematics and STEM. I maintain a 4.6 weighted GPA and am an active member of Mu Alpha Theta, where I collaborate with other high-achieving students who share a passion for mathematics.

I have several years of experience tutoring and assisting peers in mathematics, helping students improve their confidence and understanding in topics ranging from Algebra to Calculus. My goal is not just to help students arrive at the correct answer, but to help them understand the reasoning behind each step so they can solve future problems independently.

In addition to mathematics, I have a strong background in technology and problem-solving. I have extensive experience with Python programming and have earned 20 Microsoft Office certifications, making me the youngest student in my state to achieve this milestone within a single semester. These experiences have strengthened my analytical thinking and structured approach to problem-solving skills that translate directly into effective math instruction.

I am also actively involved in STEM leadership, serving as captain of my school’s cybersecurity team and participating in robotics and technology competitions through the Technology Student Association. Through these experiences, I have developed strong communication, leadership, and mentoring skills that help me support students in a professional and encouraging learning environment.

As both a student and tutor, I strive to create lessons that build confidence, develop problem-solving ability, and make mathematics feel approachable and rewarding.

About the lesson

My lessons are designed to help students not only understand what to do in mathematics, but also why it works. I follow the "I Do, We Do, You Do" instructional approach, where I first demonstrate the concept, then guide students through practice before allowing them to solve problems independently, encouraging them along the way. I also connect new material to students' prior knowledge so that concepts feel more intuitive and easier to remember.

As a high school student myself, I can relate to many of the challenges students face in math. My goal is to encourage my students, build their confidence, and help them develop strong problem-solving skills. My lessons are best suited for beginner to intermediate levels, though students of all levels are welcome.
