About Alex

Hi, I’m Alex. I graduated with a degree in Maths from the University of East Anglia in 2015 and ever since then I’ve been tutoring Maths, both privately and in schools. I’ve had the privilege of working with a diverse range of students, from key stage 3 to A-level, for the past 10 years. Many of those students have had a variety of learning difficulties, such as ADHD or autism. I am experienced with every exam board for GCSE and A-level.

About the lesson

My approach is always centred around the student, focusing on identifying their individual needs and tailoring my lessons to suit how they learn. My favourite part about tutoring is that every single student I teach is unique and I am constantly challenged to provide exciting and engaging lessons to facilitate their learning. A typical lesson for me would involve going over any topics that the student is currently struggling with in school, to allow them to stay up to date with their class work and not fall behind their peers. If they aren’t struggling with anything in particular, I focus heavily on exam practice as, from my experience, most students who underperform in exams don’t necessarily struggle with maths, but they struggle with how to approach each question in an exam setting.

Alex tutored our daughter for her GCSE resit. He realised that Ellie was a visual learner and taught her how solve problems in different ways. Ellie says she then got it! and she passed comfortably. He was easy to get along with and we would definitely recommend him as a tutor.

Alex is incredibly patient and always takes the time to ensure that I fully understood each topic before moving on. He consistently provides thoughtful feedback and encourages a deeper understanding of the material, which has greatly improved my problem-solving skills. He is approachable and very supportive. Thanks to Alex, I have gained both confidence and competence in math. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a knowledgeable and effective tutor.

Alex has tutored both of my children through their GCSE Maths. He is patient, kind and understanding. Both children have said that Alex delivers the learning in a clear and calm way, whether it’s reinforcing concepts covered in school, or reinforcing previous learning. We highly recommend him.
