I am currently on my gap year, working as an aftercare teacher. I have tutored during my matric year to students who struggle with English, I enjoy it so much as I truly think I can instill a general understanding for English as it only leads to indescribable experiences that come with the understanding for it opens up a new love.

I base my classes on understanding. The basic principle is to acknowledge “why”. Why can I not comprehend? Why can I not conclude. Why can I not understand and associate. English is not a simplistic formula in which you can work out and solve. English is about intelligence, it’s about knowing. Once you can understand WHY you can’t wrap your head around English’s complexities is when you realise how truly astounding it is. I work towards not only learning to discifer the English code but to build on branches that only encourage a future love for the many branches within English. Once you can work towards critical thinking within and outside of basic and controversial issues is when you are fully aware of your school work and how you learn but also the world around you. English is not a subject in school but an entry code into the universe.
