About Deborah

I hold a BA in Acting from Arts Educational Schools and worked professionally as an actress for over five years before moving into teaching. During my acting career, I gained extensive experience across stage, television, film, and radio. I also produced a children’s theatre show that enjoyed a successful run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Alongside teaching, I tutor students for LAMDA and Trinity examinations, helping them build confidence, performance skills, and strong exam technique. I also coach students preparing monologues and audition pieces for drama school entry.

About the lesson

I am currently tutoring at a senior school in Oxford, where I prepare students for Trinity and LAMDA examinations in Acting, Verse and Prose, Public Speaking, Devising Drama, and Communication Skills.

I believe students make the greatest progress when they feel confident, supported, and comfortable taking creative risks in performance. My lessons are designed to be engaging, encouraging, and tailored to each student’s individual needs and goals.

Lessons may include:

Breathing and vocal exercises
Devising drama and creative storytelling
Public speaking and communication skills
Physical theatre techniques
Creating a character’s backstory
Developing character physicality and voice
Building confidence in performance
Improvisation techniques
Audition and presentation skills

I also have experience working as a drama teacher with students with SEN, helping them develop confidence, communication skills, and ease in challenging social situations.

Over the years, I have taught the LAMDA and Trinity syllabus extensively, working with students aged 5–18, supporting them in achieving strong exam results while developing creativity, confidence, and a genuine love of performance.

LAMDA examinations also offer valuable academic benefits. From Grade 6 onwards, students can gain UCAS tariff points, which can contribute towards university applications. Students can achieve up to 30 UCAS points through LAMDA qualifications, depending on the grade and result achieved.
