• When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?

  Ever since I was a child myself, I have loved working with children. I was given the opportunity to be an assistant teacher for my local dance studio, and right then it sparked my love for teaching. I combined my interest in teaching with my love for academics, and I became an educator. I now work in the public school education system as a supply teacher, where I am able to work with students from Kindergarten to Grade 8.

• What makes you passionate about your subject?

  I have experience teaching every subject in the K-8 Ontario Curriculum, and my passion has always been helping learners to develop their skills and achieve their goals.

• What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?

  I love the opportunity to tutor because it allows me to work one-on-one with students who need it and who desire autonomy over their ability to reach their goals.

• Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain.

  When I look back on my education journey, I have had a couple teachers who really stick out and continue to inspire me on my journey as a learner and an educator. The best teachers care. They were strict enough to maintain the chaos of the classroom, but they were also empathetic enough to put their learners' mental health first.

• What are your keys to success?

  It is because of the teachers that have inspired me in the past that I truly believe that learning cannot happen unless an individual is in the right frame of mind, and is engaged in the learning that is happening. These teachers and their impacts on me are why I advocate that you cannot have success unless learning involves socio-emotional education, as well as a student-centered curriculum.
