About Sabatin
I'm originally from Hanover, Germany, and have been living on the UK South Coast for the past 18 years. Currently I'm based in Southsea, Hampshire. During my school days, when learning Latin, I developed a passion for languages. Once I got to grips with Latin grammar everything fell into place and I understood the underlying structure. This then helped me to learn Spanish and also provided me with the knowledge for a systematic approach when teaching German.

I’ve developed my effective tutoring style over the past 10 years, when teaching children and adults in various online and in-class settings. From 2014 to 2019, I taught adults at the Workers' Educational Association (WEA) in small classes. I also did 1-to-1 tutoring since 2015. Currently, I am a tutor for the City of Portsmouth College, where I have been for the past nine years.
I trained as a journalist in Hamburg, Germany and my journalistic approach to language has very much influenced the way I teach German now. I like to keep my lessons casual but I include speaking and listening tasks as well as writing and reading exercises. When it comes to complex grammar, I break it down and tackle it step by step. The lesson structure is flexible by design, allowing space to work on areas that need improvement and respond to current coursework.
I provide targeted support whether it’s preparing for assessments like A-levels, GCSEs, or working towards other language certifications. This is based on my knowledge about the requirements of boards such as AQA, SQA, EDEXCEL and others. Additionally, I can assist with study projects that centre around German literature, writing and speaking.
