About Hannah

I have a Bachelor's degree in American Studies and English from Sussex University.

I have tutored students ranging in ages from 4 to 25.

I have taught one to one tutoring sessions, groups of students up to 10 at a time and I've taught in person in a school as well as online in virtual classrooms.

I have experience teaching a range of subjects including English, History, Politics and English as TEFL/ESOL.

About the lesson

Hi there! My name is Hannah, I have a degree in American Studies and English and around 3 years teaching experience. I've taught in real life classrooms as well as virtual classrooms online, I've taught students ranging in ages 4-25, and I have experience teaching English as a seconf language/ESL/ESOL. I've studied abroad and love meeting people from other cultures!

My teaching style involves a lot of positive encouragement and a positive attitude - I'll always believe in your abilities!

During our first session, we will make a list of targets/goals together - this will be a good way of tracking your progress throughout our sessions. We will also review whatever we did in the last session for the first 5-10min of each tutorial to make sure what you learnt is ingraned in your long term memory!

This is how your average session with me would run:

First 5 mins: review material from previous session to consolidate knowledge!

Then a full breakdown of a topic you need help with (e.g words you're having trouble pronouncing)

Then a full breakdown of a second topic of your choice (e.g. sentence structure)

Last 5-10min: review material from the session, answer any last minute questions & ensure you fully understand all the material we have just covered together :)

The structure of these sessions is entirely flexible and is only intended as a rough guide. From previous experience, I have found that tutoring works best when separating the session into 2 blocks as concentration on a topic wavers around half way through the session. I am obviously happy to adapt to any structure/teaching method to make sure you get the most out of your session as possible!
