• When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?

  I developed an interest in tutoring when I was in high school. I started tutoring newcomer Canadian students from Korea through a nonprofit organization called "Youth Dream Canada". These students struggled to converse in English and to integrate themselves into the Canadian education system. It was my responsibility to tutor them in various subjects.
  
  I tutored them in French, ESL, Mathematics, Science, History, and less traditional subjects such as coding. I prepared materials for them and showed up to teach them and make a difference in their education and self-confidence. For 2 years, I tutored up to 6 students a week after school.
  
  In the years building up to joining Superprof's team as a tutor, I've acquired years of experience and qualifications to expand my tutoring services to be able to help more students who reach out to me for help through Superprof!

• What makes you passionate about your subject?

  I love it when my students feel confident about having learned something new. It gives me satisfaction knowing that I've helped them get to that point. I show up to all of my classes prepared with materials I've created and a personalized lesson plan for each of my students. I enjoy finding my students' weaknesses so that I can help transform them into strengths

• What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?

  What I love about tutoring is that I'm able to teach something new to my students every day. With me, you learn something new every day and that's what makes it fun! I help my students progress on their learning journey by giving them my undivided attention and providing them with quality explanations, examples, and support.

• Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

  My favourite teacher has always inspired me to teach the way she does. She has always been so patient, gentle, kind, and understanding and has always looked out for her students. She would kindly repeat explanations if we asked her to until her students understood, and would stay with us after class to help us with our assignments.
  
  She prepared materials to teach us and would spend time making revisions for our tests, to help us succeed. She would make games out of our revisions as well, on "Kahoot" and "Blooket" so that we could learn while having fun!
  
  All of her students respected her and loved her as she brought much enthusiasm to the classroom. I work hard in the hopes that all of my students can look forward to our lessons together as much as I did with her. :)

• What are your keys to success?

  Practice, practice, practice! If you show up to our lessons, that's a great start! However, if you don't practice, you're going to progress much slower than your peers and you're going to forget parts of what I've taught you. Make sure to review the materials and review sheets I will have provided for you. Even if you review for 30 minutes before our next class, I will be able to teach you new material, rather than taking time out of our classes to review what you aren't yet confident in. I am happy to do so either way, but it is in your best interest that you practice to better retain information!
