About Kasim

I'm a British English teacher living in Almendralejo, and I know exactly what it's like to learn a language as an adult because I'm learning Spanish myself. I understand the whole journey: the frustration of days when you can't find the right words, and the satisfaction of gradually improving, mistakes and all.

I originally came to Extremadura to teach English, but I stayed because of the people and the relaxed way of life.

I teach at the Official School of Languages (EOI), working with students from A1 right through to C2. It's there that I realised just how stressful learning English for exams can be, and how much difference one calm, encouraging lesson each week can make.

Before becoming a teacher, I worked in business and technology in the UK. I also performed stand-up comedy, which taught me how to think on my feet, manage nerves, and communicate with confidence. If speaking English makes you anxious, you're certainly not alone, and I'd be happy to help you overcome that.

Outside teaching, I enjoy ballet and contemporary dance, and I'm a huge cat lover. I always enjoy it when a student's cat decides to join the lesson.

My lessons focus on genuine conversation rather than textbook exercises. I'm friendly, approachable, and my goal is for you to leave every lesson feeling a little more confident than when you arrived.

About the lesson

I offer private English lessons centred around conversation, helping you become more confident speaking and understanding English. Every lesson is tailored to your goals.

Our first lesson is relaxed and informal. It's an opportunity for us to get to know each other, assess your current level, and discuss what you really want to achieve—whether that's preparing for your EOI speaking exam, moving to the UK, improving your fluency for work, or simply becoming more natural and confident in conversation.

As someone learning Spanish myself, I understand how intimidating it can be to start speaking another language, so I create a supportive environment where making mistakes is part of the learning process.

I teach adults and teenagers at every level, from complete beginners (A1) to advanced learners (C2). I'm a native British English teacher, TEFL qualified, and I currently teach at the EOI up to C2 level, so I'm very familiar with both the exam requirements and the challenges students face.

Before teaching, I performed stand-up comedy in the UK. If nerves are what's holding you back—especially when speaking in front of others—I can share practical techniques that genuinely help build confidence.

My teaching style is friendly, relaxed, and interactive. Lessons revolve around conversation and often include role plays, discussion activities, improvisation, or speaking games adapted to your level. However, every student is different, so I adapt each lesson to what works best for you, whether that's practising monologues, dialogues, exam-style questions, presentations, or everyday conversation.

Lessons are usually 60 minutes long, and together we'll set clear goals so you can see your progress over time.

Lessons are available both online and in person. If I'm honest, I prefer teaching face to face because I find it more natural and engaging, but I'm equally happy to teach online if that's more convenient for you.

Aunque solo hemos dado una clase de prueba, ha sido suficiente para ver su gran preocupación por conectar con mi hijo, adaptándose a sus gustos e intereses para que la sesión le resultara muy amena. Tiene mucha paciencia y ha conseguido crear un espacio de total confianza donde se ha sentido cómodo sin recibir ninguna presión. Esto era algo fundamental para nosotros, ya que mi hijo era bastante reacio a recibir clases de inglés y ha logrado que empiece a perder el miedo a hablar. Totalmente recomendado.
