About Nico

Hi, I’m Nico! A professional mixing engineer, producer, and composer who is passionate about helping artists bring their unique sound to life. As an Abbey Road Institute and Durham University music graduate, and the manager of Meridian Sound Studios in London, I oversee all stages of music creation—from initial recording sessions to the final mix and creative direction. This broad experience gives me a unique perspective on what artists and producers need to perfect their productions and stand out. Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of working with a diverse range of musicians and artists across jazz, indie, pop, and cinematic genres. Alongside this, I compose music for theatre and short films, which has deepened my understanding of storytelling through sound and sharpened my creative approach to production.

About the lesson

Here’s what I can help you with:

-Developing a strong understanding of EQ, compression, reverb, and other effects — and using them creatively to enhance your sound
- Building a clear, repeatable mixing workflow that suits your style and project needs
- Improving your arrangement and production decisions to make your songs more dynamic and engaging
- Learning recording techniques and microphone setups to capture the best possible takes at home or in the studio
- Mastering critical listening and referencing techniques so you can objectively evaluate and improve your mixes
- Gaining confidence navigating your DAW (Pro Tools, Cubase, etc.) and integrating plugins efficiently
- Understanding the essentials of mixing for different genres and styles
-Exploring vocal production and editing techniques
- Tips for managing sessions and workflow to stay organised and creative My teaching style is friendly, patient, and project-focused.

I believe every session should leave you with tangible progress and practical tools to continue developing your skills independently. No project is too small, and no mix is too complex — I’m here to guide you through every step of your music journey with clear explanations and tailored advice. Whether you want to build your own home studio workflow, improve your productions for release, or simply get more enjoyment from making music, I’m here to help you achieve your goals.
