About Vanessa
Supporting newcomers as they navigate a new language remains my primary focus. Sometimes I admit that keeping my own rhythm steady while helping others find theirs is a daily exercise in patience. My foundation includes a BM Music Education degree from U of T alongside my CELTA certification. Working with adult learners and IELTS candidates keeps my teaching perspective fresh.
I see the frustration that comes with language barriers and work to soften those edges. Being a first-generation Canadian gives me a unique lens into the immigrant experience. I enjoy hearing about the different paths my students have traveled before we meet.

Providing consistent feedback is the core of how I structure our time together. I admit that I am somewhat obsessive about the way we track progress through recordings. We start by analyzing your weekly conversation recordings to identify specific areas for growth.
This is where I pull from 13 years of teaching to help you refine your accent or business email tone. Phrasal verbs and interview strategies become much clearer when they are tied to your real life experiences.
We will work through IELTS preparation or conversational fluency with a focus on practical application. You will find that these sessions are designed to move at a pace that feels both challenging and manageable.
Bringing music into our discussions is a frequent strategy when words become difficult to grasp. Expect to see steady improvement as we systematically review your speaking patterns and writing styles. We keep the momentum going without needing to rush the process.
