Super tutor

Maurice is one of our best Guitar tutors. High-quality profile, verified qualifications, a quick response time, and great reviews from students!

About Maurice

I am very patient, I assess my students to try to find out what they want to learn and what they need to learn as a growing musician. It is also important that we cultivate trust and have a good time while learning. I look forward to encouraging and supporting my students as I believe in them and their creativity should be developed.

About the lesson

I am a very patient teacher with decades of experience teaching music to a diverse group of young and mature students but as a Black/Jamaican/Canadian it is nice to teach students who look like me culturally appropriately in all aspects for a good and rounded education environment to encourage and grow my students. I was the head of the guitar department for the Edna Manley College in Jamaica doe 2 decades as well I have taught the best young Jamaican musicians currently active in Jamaica and tours.

Reviews

All of our reviews are collected by us and are 100% reliable. They correspond to a real experience had by the students of Maurice.

Maurice is an amazing teacher!

He quickly figured out where my playing was, what my goals were and what I needed to learn to get there.

He balances technique, theory and playing in a way that makes the lessons very fun.

I highly recommend him to anyone who likes to play and wants to improve!

Maurice taught me guitar in college and I moved from knowing only campfire chords to touring the world as full time professional musician because of 3 primary lessons: He gave me a solid knowledge base that has proven infallible throughout my career, he taught how to be a student of my craft and invest my time wisely in mindful practice and finally, showed me what it is to be a passionate musician by opening the doors to inspiring musicianship for me.

Maurice prides himself in being a skilled pedagogue who can both play and teach and is able to break down the information to where you are at and take you to where you want to be. His teaching style is hands on, patient and flexible and he will tailor the lesson style to use your strengths to support your weaknesses. He will demonstrate then give exercises to reinforce the concepts and knows the level of understanding necessary for mastery and pushes his students towards that level.

I’m forever grateful and highly recommend him
