About Dylan

I am a Mechatronics Engineering graduate with a strong passion for mathematics, physics, and problem-solving, and I enjoy helping others develop the same confidence and clarity in these subjects. My background in engineering has given me a deep appreciation for how fundamental concepts build into real-world applications, and this is something I aim to pass on to my students in a clear and practical way. I have previous tutoring experience in mathematics through Kumon, where I developed a structured and patient teaching approach focused on strengthening core skills and building long-term understanding. I have also supported my younger siblings across a range of subjects, including math and physics, which has helped me refine my ability to explain concepts in different ways until they make sense.

I want to teach because I genuinely enjoy seeing students go from uncertainty to confidence when a concept finally “clicks.” I understand that these subjects can often feel challenging or overwhelming, and my goal is to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and engaging with difficult material. My tutoring is aimed at high school students through to first-year engineering students, and I focus on helping them build strong foundations while developing the problem-solving skills needed for success in higher study.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is structured, patient, and focused on building strong conceptual understanding rather than rote learning. I aim to break down complex ideas into simpler, step-by-step explanations and then reinforce them through guided practice and targeted problem-solving. During my time tutoring math at Kumon, I developed a methodical teaching style that emphasizes repetition, clarity, and incremental progression, which helped students strengthen core skills and confidence. In addition, I have experience tutoring my younger siblings across a range of subjects, including mathematics and physics, which has further developed my ability to adapt explanations to different learning styles and levels of understanding. Typically, my lessons run for around 60 minutes, allowing enough time to introduce concepts, work through examples, and consolidate learning through practice questions. My tutoring is primarily aimed at high school students through to first-year engineering students, with a focus on supporting both foundational understanding and early tertiary-level problem solving.
