About Michael

I am from a small town in southwest Missouri and I have settled up here in Kansas City, Missouri with my wonderful wife and children. I am a Navy Veteran, graduating from the Naval Nuclear Power program with a 3.78 GPA and serving this great country for 6 years. I left the military and used my benefits to get my Bachelor's and Master's degrees. I am now working on my PhD in Physical Chemistry and hope to be done within the next 3 years. About the lesson

As a passionate tutor with a Master's in Chemistry and strong expertise in Math and Physics, my approach centers on making complex STEM concepts accessible, engaging, and applicable to real life. I believe in fostering a supportive environment where students build confidence through active learning, problem-solving, and personalized guidance.

I use an interactive, student-centered method that combines clear explanations, visual aids, and hands-on practice. For example, in Chemistry, I break down abstract ideas like molecular structures using diagrams and real-world analogies. In Math and Physics, I emphasize step-by-step problem-solving with tools like whiteboards or shared screens to visualize equations and graphs. Techniques include Socratic questioning to encourage critical thinking, targeted exercises to reinforce weak areas, and immediate feedback to correct misconceptions.

A standard 60-minute session starts with a quick assessment of your current understanding (e.g., "What challenges are you facing with this topic?"). We then set clear goals, like mastering a specific concept or solving practice problems. The core of the lesson involves guided instruction—explaining key ideas, demonstrating examples, and working through problems together—followed by independent practice where I observe and provide tips.
