As a seasoned performer and producer with a deep understanding of Carnatic music, I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table. My ability to seamlessly blend traditional melodies with modern elements allows you to offer a truly unique perspective on approaching the guitar as an instrument and a creative tool.
My teaching is centered around the concept of "Fusion Learning," integrating the rich heritage of Indian classical music with contemporary guitar techniques and styles like jazz and funk. My approach exposes students to the depth and complexity of Carnatic music while equipping them with the versatility to explore various genres and musical expressions with the essential performance and compositional techniques.
My typical class has three main focus points:
• Theoretical Foundation: Fundamental concepts of music theory, such as scales, modes, and rhythms. Understanding these concepts will provide students with a solid foundation in the underlying principles that govern all styles of music.
• Technical Exercises: Technical exercises that combine traditional techniques with the modern. For beginners, this includes exercises focused on finger positioning, plucking patterns, and basic melodic phrasing and chord progressions. Intermediate students learn more advanced techniques like phrasing, articulation, improvisation, and complex rhythmic patterns.
• Practical Application: A dedicated portion of the class for practical application, where students can apply the theoretical and technical concepts they've learned. This could involve learning and practicing standard compositions, as well as exploring concepts from different genres that can be integrated into the students' playing to shape their unique voices. My experience as a producer and performer will be invaluable in guiding students through this process.

Kushal combines the modern music with various traditional aspects. He is very patient and provides the technical aspects of music in a simpler way and provides context on how it integrates with current technology helping everyone to understand the nuances of music. Wishing him the very best
I’ve performed with Kausal for his Master’s presentation at the Musicians Institute. Kausal is a great all-around musician; he can compose, organize a group of musicians, and of course, improvise and perform himself.
