About Punya
While working in elementary school classrooms as a Literacy Tutor for students ranging from Kindergarten - 5th grade, I worked with students with a wide range of needs, skill levels, and learning styles.
I have learned various teaching approaches and methods to help students feel confident and comfortable with reading and writing, and I truly enjoy seeing students confidence in themselves grow as their skills improve.

I teach elementary - middle school students by working one-on-one with them to understand their challenges and triumphs with English reading and writing. We typically read books or short stories together and highlight or underline words the student doesn't understand or hasn't seen before. Then, we do a vocabulary lesson where students will learn to use those words in sentences, both verbal and written. After this, we transition to a writing exercise where we focus more on sentence structure, expressing ideas, and paragraph organization.
While these are typical methods I employ, I understand that every student has their own needs and challenges, and I tailor my lessons and exercises to each students' skill level and learning style. I take into account parent and teacher feedback, and do introductory assessments with students to understand their skill level before starting tutoring.
