About Miriam
I am finishing my undergraduate studies in Linguistics with a minor in Professional Writing. I love looking at the art and science of language and seeing that languages aren't all too different from each other. My minor in Professional Writing allows me to dive deeper into the English language, understanding the different patterns and structures and how I can use my understanding of English to better express myself and my work.

My teaching method is to make the lessons applicable and immediately useful. I ask: "how can my student use their English today," not "how can my student use English in a hypothetical situation." Once I learn why my student is learning English, what they need to learn, and how they learn best, I personalize each lesson to those factors. Most lessons are conversation-based because I believe that is the best way to learn and use new vocabulary, learn proper English sentence structure, and develop confidence. For students who already have high competence in English and need more tutoring in writing or grammar, I will take more time to explain tips and tricks for remembering rules to make English easier.
