About Jake
Hi! My name is Jake :) I mentor because I enjoy teaching people the skills to cope with the intense stresses of A levels by helping you on all aspects of your studying. I am here to help with anything from class notes to exam prep to revision plans. Expect to have productive and fun sessions with me where I will be here to answer any of the things that may be confusing or leaving you unsure about any topic. I will take you through all the topics you think you need help on and test you on the ones you think you're strong on too! I look forward to meeting you!

Between 1-2 hour sessions (flexible) I've mentored A level students before in my field, notably a 6-week period of absence during my sixth form time when one of my teachers took leave. In that time I held sessions with that class to assist them with any work that they may need help with or in general questions about the subject that piqued their interest. I have also mentored GCSE level maths, philosophy, and psychology each for a period of over a year. This experience has also visibly shaped me to be even more passionate about philosophy which I intend to continue into further tutoring sessions. Any age/person learning A level OCR Philosophy I prefer a more interactive method of mentoring by making philosophy the fun subject that I believe it to be! I specifically want to explain things by developing their own skills in approaching, revision, in-class notes, and exam prep/stress management. This is because I believe that all these aspects are vital to not just coping with the workload but ultimately getting a grade that they deserve. On a more practical level this will be, using essays that have clear grade boundaries, multiple note-taking techniques that I found helped me and my mentors with philosophy lessons. I also believe that the way revising works, as for many subjects, is unique for Philosophy as their exams are unique in method. Past papers help with real-world examples of questions but preparing essays per topic is something I believe helps cover all the content and in a practical way too!
