About JILL

And now, a bit about me. I actually studied German Literature at Brown University (BA and MA) and then moved to Ecuador as a Peace Corps volunteer. I had studied French and German in high school, but had never studied Spanish, so I learned the language through immersion in a new country and culture, as is the case for many of my students. When I decided to be an educator, I went back to school, this time to Boston University, where I earned a Masters in Teaching in TESOL (teaching English to speakers of other languages). I have worked for the bast 20 years as both a high school college counselor and an ESL teacher, with 12 years in an IB International school, where I helped students from dozens of countries with their essay writing and fluency. I also work with European corporate clients and have great success with adults as well as children. Let's get started!

About the lesson

Once I get to know my students, I tailor my lessons to their specific needs and interests. Prior to each class, students receive a reading, writing, and grammar assignment. We discuss the homework during class, as I note errors and pinpoint areas that need attention. I think the fact that I truly enjoy teaching is evident and my students respond with enthusiasm as they realize that they are making progress.
