About Marja
I am a professional artist working from my own studio in the Shropshire hills.
I have 3 children and a golden labrador. My hobbies include playing music and walking in the lovely landscape where we live.
I enjoy teaching very much, and understand that people who love art often find difficulties being in mainstream education or employment. My main talent is making people feel relaxed, and helping them to understand that their creativity is totally unique to them, therefore, whatever they make, it can't be wrong. Within this framework it is still possible to teach art skills such as drawing and colour theory, opening new possibilities of creative expression.

My teaching style is all about creating an atmosphere where students feel comfortable and relaxed enough to be creative without feeling self-conscious. I learned traditional drawing and painting techniques from exceptional tutors at university up to Masters level.
I use a more contemporary approach in my own work, and understand that art is not only about skill. I can help students to express their imaginary world, with good drawing skills and understanding of colour theory as a base.
Lessons are usually 1 hour, but can be longer if needed.
