About Pooja

Pooja Murgai Taneja is a Katy-based artist and teacher whose work spans realistic charcoal sketches, floral figurative paintings, and folk-inspired pieces. She teaches sketching and realistic art to kids and adults, and hosts paint parties, corporate events, and creative workshops.

About the lesson

The class begins with settling and learning the basics of shading , proportion and more .We look at our subject together, and I show you how to see the shapes hiding inside it, where the light falls, where the shadows rest.

Then we start, step by step. I draw along with you, showing you each stage how to hold the pencil, how to build your lines, how to shade so your drawing slowly comes alive on the page. Nothing is rushed, and no question is too small.

As you work, I come around to each student, guiding, correcting gently, and showing you small techniques that make a big difference. Some days we focus on sketching, some days on realistic detail — and always at a pace that feels comfortable, never overwhelming.

By the end of the lesson, you don't just leave with a drawing. You leave seeing the world a little differently — noticing light, shape, and beauty in everyday things. And that, to me, is where real art begins.
