About William

About Your Tutor: William Palm I’m a professional painter and dedicated art educator with over 32 years of experience teaching and making art. I work in watercolor, oil, acrylic, and drawing—capturing the spirit of scenic places like oceans, railroads, and twilight skies. My goal is to help each student grow with confidence, creativity, and solid technical skill. I’ve taught elementary, middle, and high school students, as well as adult learners, both in private lessons and community classes. I tailor my lessons to the student’s level, goals, and interests—whether you're a beginner, a hobbyist, or looking to advance your personal art practice. For Adult Learners Whether you're returning to art or starting fresh, I’ll guide you with patient, professional instruction. We’ll explore technique, composition, color, and personal expression in a relaxed but focused environment. I’ve helped countless adult students find joy and progress in their creative journey. For Kids and Teens I’ve taught art in public schools for over three decades and love working with young artists. My lessons are fun, skill-building, and encouraging—helping kids and teens gain confidence while learning how to draw, paint, and express themselves through art. Why Choose Me? 32 years teaching art to all ages Real-world experience as a professional painter Supportive, customized instruction in watercolor, acrylic, oil, and drawing Lessons that build both skill and creative confidence A warm, encouraging learning space—online or in-person Whether you're 9 or 90, I’ll meet you where you are and help you take your art further. Let’s get started!

About the lesson

I'm William Palm, a professional representational painter working in watercolor and oil. My work celebrates the poetry of place—coastal towns, scenic railroads, twilight skies—and I bring the same passion and care to teaching as I do to painting. With over a decade of experience in both creating and exhibiting fine art, I specialize in helping students unlock their creativity, sharpen their technical skills, and build confidence in their artistic voice.

Whether you're a complete beginner or a practicing artist looking to deepen your craft, my lessons are personalized, supportive, and grounded in classical technique with a contemporary perspective. I’ve taught workshops, mentored private students, and exhibited in group and solo shows—so I know how to guide you not just in technique, but in developing a body of work and artistic identity.

You’ll get:

* Clear, patient instruction in watercolor and/or oil painting
* Guidance in composition, color theory, light, and texture
* Tips on how to evoke emotion and narrative in your work
* Encouragement rooted in real-world art experience
* Flexible lessons tailored to your goals and interests
