About Deborah

Ciao, and welcome! I am Deborah.

I am a native Italian speaker based in London, and I would love to help you learn the language in a way that feels relaxed, enjoyable and useful.

Italian is my first language, and I have studied it formally to a high standard. I achieved grade A* in both my General Certificate of Secondary Education and my A Level in Italian, and I completed an Italian module as part of my university degree. This means I can offer you natural, everyday Italian as it is truly spoken, and also a clear understanding of how the language works.

I have built my career in recruitment, so I am confident, organised and friendly, and I enjoy getting to know people. I will listen carefully to what you want to achieve, whether that is speaking with confidence on holiday, preparing for work, or simply learning for pleasure, and I will plan every lesson around you.

My lessons are patient, encouraging and free from pressure. You will be speaking Italian from the very first session, and you will always leave knowing exactly what you have learned and what to practise next.

If you have been thinking about learning Italian, now is a lovely time to begin. Book your first lesson and we will start together.

Hello, I am Deborah

I am a native Italian speaker with fluent English, based in London. I teach Italian online, one to one, and I plan each lesson around what you want to achieve.

My approach and methods
I believe the best way to learn a language is to use it. Most of each lesson is spent speaking, so that you gain confidence quickly. I explain grammar in plain English, only when it helps you say something real, and I use everyday situations such as ordering food, travelling, and meeting people. At the end of each lesson, I summarise the new words and phrases and set a short task to practise before we meet again. I am patient, I correct mistakes gently, and I adjust the pace to suit you.

Length of a lesson
A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes. Shorter lessons of 30 minutes are also possible if you prefer.
My qualifications and experience
Italian is my first language, and I have studied it formally to a high level. I hold a General Certificate of Secondary Education and an A Level in Italian, both at grade A*, and I completed an Italian module as part of my Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Finance at Canterbury Christ Church University. I have also worked for many years in recruitment, where clear and friendly communication is part of my daily work. You will hear natural, everyday Italian from the first lesson, and I can also help with translation between Italian and English.

I wrote both grades as A* from your message. If only one of them was an A*, tell me and I will correct it before you post the ad.
Who the lessons are for
Complete beginners and learners up to intermediate level, including adults and young people aged 16 and over. Whether you are preparing for a holiday, studying for work, or learning for pleasure, I will shape the lessons around your goals.

Please send me a message to book your first lesson.
