About Teia
I have achieved top grades in German – A (highest grade possible) in Irish Junior Certificate and A* in German A-Level and am currently a first-class student at Bristol university. Currently, I’m spending a year studying at the Georg-August Universität Göttingen, where I have completed an intensive C1 German language course which allows me to bring real-life immersion and authentic language use into my lessons. My experience as both a student and a tutor helps me connect with learners, explain complex grammar clearly, and make lessons engaging, motivating and effective.

- My teaching approach: My teaching style is flexible and tailored to each student’s individual needs and goals. Whether your main goal is to boost confidence in learning German, to succeed in GCSE/A-Level exams, or simply deepen your passion for the language and culture, or a mixture of these, I will adapt each lesson to help you achieve this. I combine a range of teaching methods to teach engaging and effective lessons: -Communicative approach: Encouraging students to participate actively in conversations and role-play scenarios with a focus on real-life interactions to build natural fluency. -Exam-focused practice: Guiding students through targeted grammar, listening, speaking, and writing exercises. I also work through specific exam techniques with students, including emphasis on how students can successfully meet the marking criteria. -Direct method: When using this method, I conduct teaching primarily in German to encourage immersion in the German language as well as develop confidence in thinking and communicating in German on the spot. -Typical Lesson Structure: Each lesson is designed around your individual goals, but typically includes: -Warm-up and review: A short conversation in German and a recap of the previous lesson, including feedback on any assignments. -Main focus: Working through a specific topic- such as a grammar point, reading comprehension, or exam paper practice. -Wrap-up: A summary of key points of the lesson and targeted homework to reinforce what was covered in the lesson to assess whether the student can confidently work through the points independently.

Perfect! I can’t recommend Teia enough as a tutor whether you are studying for exams, business or other reasons.
I have some basic German which I wanted to improve upon. Teia has picked right up from my level and has adjusted the lessons to my needs and level with a mix of reading, translation, grammar and speaking practice.
