About David

I’m an experienced jazz drummer offering lessons in jazz and beyond - including general drumset technique, snare drum, reading, listening skills, and more.
I teach students of all levels, from complete beginners to advanced players.
I’ve studied with world-class drummers such as Gregory Hutchinson, Ari Hoenig, Steve Lyman, Josh Jones, and Carl Allen, and I bring their insights into my teaching.
I’ve performed at many of London’s leading jazz venues including Ronnie Scott’s, the Vortex, the 606 Club, 91 Living Room, and Next Door Records, and I run my own jazz jam in the heart of the city. In our lessons, we can focus on key areas such as sound, time, feel, touch, independence, rhythmic vocabulary, fundamentals, snare work, improvisation and theory. I also provide listening recommendations tailored to each student at the end of every session.

About the lesson

I will help you take your drumming to the next level and guide you in setting and achieving your goals. Whether you would like to gain admission to a top conservatoire, be fluent in an array of styles or simply get better, I can help you at every step. I believe in highly personalised lessons to cater for your needs and teach in a relaxed and constructive manner with a focus on clear methodology and doing it the right way.

Perfect! Great teacher and lesson planner, has shown me some fundamentals I have been lacking and made good points about unlearn habits I have to unlearn. Very excited too continue working with him!

David is a great tutor, he is someone who is patient, diligent, and very good at what he does. I’d recommend him to anyone looking to expand on their drumming or even start from scratch as he listens well and takes care to ensure students get the most out of each lesson and what his own experience can offer.
