About Raphael

I was a devoted professional student while earning a degree in chemical engineering. I worked in both the chemistry and tutor lab at college. Teaching at the tutor lab was the beginning of my tutoring career. There I learned to listen to students and morph my explanations to fit their understanding. I’m good at finding mistakes, filling in the gaps and producing better, more logical critical thinkers. I can entirely relate to students whom are working hard and trying to grasp a difficult concept, so I try to make it fun or simple. I’m good at reading my audience and adjusting my delivery to maintain people’s focus’s, so we can finish the job quickly and efficiently.

About the lesson

Usually, students send or share their homework assignments, which I import into Notability and share my screen on Zoom. We then work together to solve the problems. I often incorporate formulas and/or footnotes pasted from online resources into the homework, accompanied by step-by-step instructions. This acts as a reference to help guide through future problems. Either, I can share my screen and do the writing, asking the student to assist me as we progress, or the student can share their screen and do the writing as I oversee to make sure they understand. Basically, they tutor me : )
