About Sarah

For me, teaching English is about much more than learning a language — it’s about helping people find their voice and feel more confident expressing themselves.

I'm a CELTA-certified English tutor with over 700 hours of experience teaching English privately to adults on Preply. My teaching style is highly learner-centered: I get to know each student's goals, interests, and challenges, and I shape our lessons around what will be most useful and meaningful for them. I want my students to be active participants in their learning, not simply listening to a teacher explain rules.

Before becoming a full-time English tutor, I worked as a data analyst for six years. This professional background gives me a strong understanding of the communication skills needed in the workplace, and I especially enjoy helping students develop the English they need to feel confident in professional settings.

What I love most about teaching ESL is working with adults from different backgrounds, learning about their experiences, and seeing their confidence grow over time. I feel incredibly lucky to be part of that journey — whether I'm helping someone find the courage to have their first real conversation in English, watching the moment a grammar concept that has frustrated them finally click, or seeing a student go from second-guessing themselves at work to confidently expressing their ideas.

I feel very lucky to do work that I love, and I bring that enthusiasm and encouragement into every lesson. My goal is for you to leave each class feeling that you've made progress, that you understand something a little more clearly, and that using English feels a little easier than it did before.

About the lesson

Want to feel more confident speaking English? My lessons are personalized, practical, and designed around your goals, level, and interests.

I use a communicative, student-centered approach, with plenty of opportunities to speak, participate, and actively use English in realistic situations. Rather than simply giving you rules and asking you to memorize them, I guide you toward noticing patterns and figuring out how the language works through questions, examples, and practice. This makes lessons highly interactive and helps you become more independent and confident when using English.

A typical lesson might begin with a short conversation or warm-up, followed by a focused language activity where we explore new vocabulary or a grammar point together. We then practice the language through interactive activities before moving into a more open-ended speaking activity where you can use what you've learned naturally. I also provide clear, personalized feedback throughout the lesson.

My lessons are for adults at beginner to advanced levels, whether you want to improve your everyday English, communicate more confidently at work, prepare for a specific situation, or simply feel more comfortable speaking. I'm CELTA-certified and have extensive experience teaching adults online.
