About Maria

I am a Year 13 IB student predicted 45/45 points, with 7s in all of my Higher Level subjects, including Mathematics AA HL, Physics HL, and Computer Science HL. I completed my Mathematics IGCSE one year early, achieving a Grade 9, before continuing to study Further Pure Mathematics.
Alongside my academic studies, I have consistently participated in international mathematics competitions, including IYMC, UKMT, IGAC, Purple Comet and many others. I have been awarded a UK Math Trust Gold certificate three years in a row, became an International Youth Math Challenge finalist, and ranked among the top 5% of participants in the world.
These achievements reflect not only a strong understanding of mathematics, but also the problem-solving techniques and logical thinking that I help my students develop. Having recently completed the same courses and examinations myself, I understand the challenges students face and know which methods and study strategies lead to success. My aim is not simply to help students solve individual questions, but to give them the confidence and skills to approach unfamiliar problems independently and achieve their academic goals.

About the lesson

My tutoring approach is centred around each individual student. I adapt every lesson to their goals, strengths, and areas for improvement, whether they are aiming to improve their grades, achieve top marks, or prepare for mathematics competitions.
I believe it is far more important to understand the method than to memorise the answer. Rather than simply solving questions for students, I guide them through the thought process, helping them develop the confidence and problem-solving skills needed to tackle unfamiliar questions independently.
For students who want to progress as quickly as possible, I provide personalised weekly homework targeting their weaker areas, together with support outside of lessons whenever possible. I believe consistent independent practice is essential for achieving the highest results.
As a current Year 13 IB student predicted 45/45, I have recently completed the same courses my students are studying. This allows me to explain concepts from a student's perspective in a way that is often clearer and more relatable than traditional classroom teaching.
I teach IGCSE Mathematics, IGCSE Further Pure Mathematics, and IB Mathematics (AA and AI) for Year 12 students. I also help students prepare for mathematics competitions, developing the problem-solving skills that are valuable for applications to the world's top universities.
I offer lessons in both English and Russian, allowing students to learn in the language they feel most comfortable using.
