About Jillian
Language is something I've always found fascinating. I look forward to meeting new people and sharing in that passion for new languages.
I started my career in teaching after graduating from MSU with a degree Japanese with a Minor in TESOL. For the first 3 years post-graduation, I worked in Japan teaching English to High Schoolers at 6 different schools for the district.
Last year I started a career as a High school ESL teacher back after returning to the US. I see my work here as a tutor as a chance to work more with students individually, rediscover students' motivations, and test out new materials and lesson plans between school years.
My main principles of teaching are patience, practice, and feedback. I will provide you with individually tailored practice, and detailed feedback that will give you somewhere to grow after every lesson, and my approach to teaching will always come in the form of patience and encouragement.

I am a High school ESL teacher with experience helping students pass the WIDA test.
I can help you with anything from Beginner's Survival English to Advanced Business English. Please come with a goal in mind.
Additionally, I also speak Japanese at the N2 level, so if that's your 1st language we can have a bilingual lesson.
