Highly skilled acting coach, leading actor and theatre director Sam uses her technique of embodied action (combining Mike Alfreds, Stanislavski and Anne Bogart methodologies) to unlock actor potential

I first met Sam when working together on a production of Romeo & Juliet at The Royal Exchange, Manchester. With any theatrical production, the team becomes a family and Sam stood as a confident, guiding presence for many of us.

Sam has a practical method of delivering notes, using her compassion and empathy to tune in to what we need to hear as well as knowing what worked best for the play as a whole.

Sam's calm and collected energy would make her a brilliant tutor and I've no doubt she would commit wholly to what her students need.

I thoroughly enjoyed working with Sam. Sam's presence and invitation for exploration and collaboration made me feel so at ease and open as an actor to be able to feel comfortable enough to let go and feel free enough to make discoveries as well as mistakes; never once did I ever feel judged as an actor in that space of creation and I'll always be grateful for Sams guidance, support and direction.

Sam is a patient, generous and thoughtful teacher who guides students to see things in different ways, helping them to achieve their goals. Through her light hearted and organised way of working she has the ability to build a strong, trusting rapport with people quickly. I would recommend Sam to anyone, her work is outstanding and being in a room with her is always fruitful with opportunities of discovery and play.

Sam has been a positive, supportive and dynamic creative force in my career since we first met working on Romeo and Juliet at The Royal Exchange in Manchester in 2023. Crucially she creates a safe environment in which to ‘play’ and explore, leading to greater depth in the work and a deeply satisfying experience for me as an artist. The nurturing atmosphere that Sam fosters in the rehearsal room was the reason why I leapt at the chance to work with her again on an R + D week exploring the possibility of turning a Beckett novella into a stage production. Her unique insight into the human condition provokes an actor to ask the difficult questions and to push boundaries. She is ever curious and that is why the spark of creativity thrives when she is in the room.

Sam has been an exceptional teacher to work with. I have learned so much from her, she creates a safe space to play and create whilst still challenging you and pushing you to explore further as a performer. She is highly skilled in her craft and I couldn’t reccomend her highly enough. I look forward to working with her again in the future!

Sam was an absolute joy to work with at RADA. She challenged and pushed us as actors, but made sure we always felt supported and encouraged. She was our greatest cheerleader and champion. It really felt like Sam cared about not just the show, but about the experiences of everyone working on it. I can’t wait to work with Sam again one day!
