About Louisa

I’m a qualified British teacher and Head of Year at a leading British school in Dubai, with extensive teaching and leadership experience in both the UK and UAE. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in English Language and a PGCE, and have years of experience teaching Maths within the British curriculum.

I have supported pupils across a wide range of abilities, from children who find Maths challenging to confident learners who need greater depth and more demanding problems. I specialise in making Maths clear, manageable and engaging.

I focus not only on getting the correct answer, but on helping pupils genuinely understand mathematical concepts, develop strong problem-solving skills and become confident independent learners. My approach is patient, encouraging and personalised.

I identify gaps in understanding, adapt lessons to each child’s needs and provide the right level of challenge to help them make meaningful progress.

Whether your child needs help catching up, additional practice, greater confidence or an extra challenge, lessons will be tailored specifically to them.

About the lesson

Every lesson is personalised to your child, with a focus on making Maths clear, engaging and enjoyable. I adapt my teaching to their individual level, learning style and goals, whether they need to close gaps, build confidence or be challenged further.

Lessons combine clear teacher modelling, guided practice and independent problem-solving, helping children understand the “why” behind Maths rather than simply memorising methods. I can support with all areas of primary Maths - for example in arithmetic, times tables, fractions, decimals, percentages, geometry, reasoning and multi-step problem solving.

For children who lack confidence, I break concepts down into manageable steps and build them back up gradually. For more confident mathematicians, I introduce greater-depth questions and challenges that develop reasoning and critical thinking.

Most importantly, I want children to finish each lesson feeling more confident in Maths than when they started.
