About Sofia
Hi!
I’m Sofia Kim, a current grade 12 student, and I will be attending McMaster University for Life Sciences Gateway this fall (2024-25). I am very passionate about math and my academic results reflect my devotion for the subject. My grade for Advanced Function resulted as 98%, whereas my current mark for AP calculus AB is 100%. I have also take the AP exam for Calculus AB. In addition to that, I have experience in tutoring math to younger students, such as middle schoolers and elementary students. In fact, I was an instructor at Mathnasium, which allowed me to expand my teaching and tutoring skills when teaching students from age of 7 to high school students!
I'm always helping my friends and peers with their math homework. I love teaching, and since math is my favourite subject, teaching it brings me much joy.

The most important thing for me when I teach someone math is making sure the student can find fun and interest in the subject. I will help them alongside to get to that point.
My strength is being able to understand the struggles of a learner and put myself in their shoes so I can explain math at a level they can easily catch and understand. I am beyond confident to be able to help a person who thinks math is a boring subject and change their mind.
In addition, I'm very familiar with the apps and online tools needed for the lessons. Teams, Skype, and Zoom are all platforms I used the most due to my academics. However, I am open to in-person lessons if the setting allows so.
Lessons can be in English, French, Italian as well as Korean.
