My teaching approach includes a lot of differentiation and engagement from students. Learners can learn best through auditory, visual, or kinesthetic means and I try to include aspects of each of these methods in each of my lessons. The best way for me to do this is to have a time of visually explaining the content and showing the student the right process for understanding the content. After this, leading the student through a guided practice/scaffolding activity where I can help the student work through the content. The next step is to allow the student to attack the content in a more hands-off way and to be there for reinforcement when the student needs it. A good way to visualize this is teaching someone to ride a bike—first they need a lot of help and support with training wheels and after a while the teacher slowly gives them more leeway and less help when they show growth and success.
