About Paul

My name is Paul, I am 23 years old and I am studying English. After college I started a BAC pro commerce, after graduation I realized that I didn't want to continue down this path. So I did a year of civic service in ecology, then a year of European voluntary service in Romania and Macedonia during which I will be led to do a language assistant in high school and college, which convinced me to make my life in teaching. After these two years, I decide to start studying English to end up becoming an English teacher.

Being dyslexic myself, I had a lot of problems during my schooling regarding the different learning methods of my teachers, even though English has always been a subject in which I was successful. The main problem that students often face in middle and high school is that while most teachers are in good faith and try to repeat what some students have not understood, remains that they have a program to follow and if possible finish before the end of the year. The concern being that, after a while, the teachers will consider that certain concepts have been acquired and will therefore continue the progress of the program, always leaving students behind, those having difficulties above all. How many times, as a student in difficulty, have I heard "Paul, that's a notion from last year, you should already know it", this argument generally justifying not giving me the answer to my question. The concern being that, once the delay has accumulated, it is difficult, if not impossible to compensate for it.

During my lessons, I intend to make the most of the advantages offered by private lessons. In particular, the possibility of taking your time, and of exploring each concept well before moving on to the next. The goal is not to learn as many concepts as possible, even if some are only half-mastered. Obviously, the goal of my course will also be to cover as many themes as possible and to be as complete as possible, but I prefer however that my student acquires the most solid bases possible than to pass succinctly on all the chapters that a English manual may include. I would make a point of making my students feel confident to ask questions and say if things are going too fast for him, if a notion is too hard.

Regarding my teaching method, j likes to try to vary the media as much as possible, which allows for a variety of activities. I often divide the course into three parts: A grammar / conjugation part, a vocabulary part, and a conversation part. This separation allows not to stay too long on the same concept, which prevents the student from losing his attention. Obviously, this structure is different for each class and depends on the needs of the student, his difficulties and his program.
