About Jenna

I am a guitar tutor with 7 years of experience and a B.Mus in Guitar Performance along with an M.Mus in Music Composition. I specialize in helping students combine technical skill, creativity, and performance confidence. I work with learners of all levels, from beginners learning chords and rhythm to advanced students preparing for live performances or original compositions. My approach integrates structured exercises, improvisation, repertoire work, and performance coaching, encouraging musical independence and expressive growth. Lessons are tailored to each student’s experience and goals. Beginners focus on basic technique, simple melodies, and rhythm patterns. Intermediate learners develop scale fluency, improvisation, and stylistic expression. Advanced learners refine soloing, performance readiness, and composition skills. Feedback is ongoing and supportive, helping students overcome challenges and build confidence. Lessons emphasize creative exploration, technical mastery, and personal expression. Outside teaching, I perform, compose, and explore contemporary guitar styles. I guide students through gigs, recitals, and creative projects. Teaching guitar allows me to watch learners evolve in skill, artistry, and confidence. My goal is to help students become versatile, expressive, and passionate guitarists who enjoy the journey of making music.

About the lesson

Guitar lessons are most effective when technical mastery and expressive freedom grow together. I guide learners through chord progressions, scales, fingerstyle techniques, solo phrasing, improvisation, and tone development. Beginners focus on chord shapes, strumming patterns, simple melodies, and rhythmic timing. Intermediate students refine scale knowledge, finger dexterity, stylistic nuances, and musical interpretation. Advanced learners explore advanced soloing, creative composition, tone shaping, and live performance preparation. Each lesson integrates practical exercises, repertoire practice, improvisation opportunities, and real-time feedback to strengthen both skill and creativity. I emphasize interactive, engaging learning that encourages curiosity, personal expression, and consistent progress. Students are supported in discovering their musical voice while building confidence and performance readiness.

Lesson planning is personalized according to experience and goals. Beginners work on basic technique, rhythm, and familiar songs. Intermediate learners develop improvisation, music theory integration, and expressive phrasing. Advanced learners focus on composition, solo performance, and technical mastery across diverse styles. Exercises include play-along practice, problem-solving for challenging passages, and creative exploration. Constructive feedback guides students toward improvement and artistic growth. Lessons combine technical skill-building with emotional expression, helping learners enjoy music while achieving tangible skill advancement.

Over time, students gain finger dexterity, musical memory, improvisational ability, and confidence to perform solo or in ensemble settings. Lessons cultivate creativity, discipline, and self-expression, empowering learners to play fluently and confidently. Guitar skills develop alongside musical understanding, tonal awareness, and stylistic versatility. Students gradually integrate technique, interpretation, and personal style, achieving expressive and technical competence. My goal is to nurture musicians who enjoy performing, exploring, and creating music independently, with both skill and passion.
