About Seba

Hi, I’m Sebastian! I’m a guitarist, bassist and music teacher originally from Chile, now based in Dunedin. I’ve been teaching for over 25 years, in Chile, France, Spain and now New Zealand, to children, teenagers and adults of every level.

I play both bass and guitar in active bands, so what I teach comes from real stages, studios and rehearsal rooms. I hold a degree in Musical Performance from the University of Chile and have studied jazz, composition and electroacoustic music, which is where my love of sound, improvisation and music production comes from.

As a teacher, I’m patient, calm and encouraging. I believe learning an instrument should be creative and fun, so I help my students find their own voice, play with friends, improvise and write their own music, always at their own pace. I’ve also worked supporting children and young people with disabilities, so I’m comfortable adapting lessons to each person’s needs.

About the lesson

Music should be fun, personal and yours.

I’m a professional musician and teacher with over 25 years of experience teaching guitar, bass and ukulele to students of all ages and levels, including children from 7 years old. I play bass and guitar in active bands, so everything I teach comes from real playing, not just theory.

Your first lesson is free! It’s a relaxed chance to meet, try the instrument and talk about what you’d like to achieve, with no pressure and no commitment.

My lessons are built around you. Whether you’re picking up an instrument for the first time or want to take your playing further, we’ll work at your pace on the music you actually love.

In our lessons you can:

Learn to play songs and jam with friends, in a band or at home
Learn to improvise and feel free when you play
Write your own music and turn your ideas into real songs
Explore music production and record your own tracks
Play with sound, rhythm and ideas, so practice feels like play

I’m patient, calm and encouraging, and I adapt every lesson to your goals, or to your child’s, whether that’s playing for fun, joining a band, writing songs or building solid technique. Young beginners are welcome: we’ll keep lessons playful, with songs and games they enjoy.
